Here at Wandering Acres Ranch the health and well-being of our dogs and puppies always comes first. A licensed veterinarian does all of our tail/dew claw docking, 2 health exams, and if need be any medical/surgical procedures. Growing up with animals and working on a farm we have learned to do our own vaccines. We do purchase the same high-quality vaccines veterinarians use and our vet supports us doing our own vaccines.
Our dogs and puppies have a home for life, meaning if at any time owners are no longer able to care for them for any reason, they are welcome to come back here no questions asked. We must be notified if you are unable to keep the dog/puppy prior to it being rehomed regardless. We will take any of our dogs/ puppies back anytime.
All puppies come with a 2-year health guarantee against genetic diseases. This does not include communicable diseases (Parvo, Distemper, Internal/ External Parasites, Heartworms, Kennel cough, or Coccidioidomycosis). This also does not include anything that relates to an injury. Your puppy is not fully vaccinated at the time it goes home and should not be going out in public (dog parks, stores, walks, friends house etc.) until it is fully vaccinated at 16 weeks. Your puppy should not do strenuous exercise till at least 1 year old when its joints are closing up. To much running, hiking, tight turns etc is very hard on their joints and can cause injury/ environmental issues such as hip dysplasia which is not covered by our genetic guarantee. Puppies should remain on quality food and we recommend a vitamin/ joint supplement such as NuVet, Cosequin, K9 Power etc. We highly recommend staying on the food the puppy goes home with for at least 6 months before transitioning if you so wish.
All puppies must be treated as if they are MDR1 affected regardless of health testing results. Clear dogs are known to have issues just the same as carriers and affected. If puppy/dog is not treated as if they are affected for MDR1 this guarantee is null and void. We are always happy to answer any questions about MDR1.
To the best of our knowledge, each puppy is in healthy and sound condition at the time of sale. Buyer has 24 hours (48 Hours on weekends or holidays) from the time of pickup to have a vet check done by a licensed veterinarian. This is for validation of the health report card from our vet if you so desire (do not trust our vet and have concerns.) Otherwise, puppies are not due for a vet appointment till they are 12 weeks old and due for their next vaccine. Buyer is required to have a licensed veterinarian administer remaining vaccinations needed to protect puppy from disease. Parvo and distemper vaccines must be given at three/four-week intervals following first vaccine that we have given. If any vaccines are given at 8 weeks after the puppy goes home our health guarantee is null and void. Please, check with us if you have concerns.
Seller is not financially responsible for the animal once it leaves our care at Wandering Acres Ranch. That said we are always willing to help whenever we can. Please call us immediately with any concerns. Seller cannot be responsible for Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or the effects of any stress related illness due to travel/rehoming.
All puppies are sold on limited registration (pet only). Unless we have agreed otherwise, which will be stated in the contract. We advise to wait till your puppy is at least a year old to spay/ neuter as the hormones help the puppies grow.
All dogs in our breeding program are registered as AKC Australian Shepherds and are not eligible or permitted to be taken to another breed (ex: Miniature American Shepherd). This goes for their offspring as well; they must stay Australian Shepherds.
